Healthy Families Initiative

At HACF we support our families as they invest in their health, their food and their community.

The Healthy Families Initiative supports residents in our communities by
providing access to:

Cooking Classes

We offer monthly cooking classes, or what we like to call “Community Table” gatherings, where we cook, eat and share recipes and skills together with residents and our partners at The Common Market CoOp and Federated Charities of Frederick. Learn More…

Gardening Workshops

Our resident gardeners are supported with monthly gardening workshops in partnership with our Master Gardener volunteers from Frederick County Master Gardeners.

Community Gardens

Our two community gardens are in our largest communities of Carver and Lucas Village. They are open to our residents for growing their own food and coming together in a beautiful community space! Learn More…

Youth Garden Club

We have weekly youth garden and cooking club year-round for our resident youth ages 7+. In the garden we have hands on education, garden activities, harvesting and cooking! Learn More…

We grow healthy communities with the support of our Healthy Families Coordinator, Natasha Bowens Blair.
