Q. When can I apply for Public Housing?
A. You can apply online at any time, click here. However, if you do not have access to a computer or need assistance with the application, you can apply on Tuesdays only from 9:00am to 2:45pm at our Main Office at 209 Madison Street, Frederick MD 21701. For directions click here. Applications are done on a first come first serve basis. You MUST apply IN PERSON. You must have Social Security numbers and birthdates for all occupants on the household application.

Q. Can you mail me an application?
A. We DO NOT mail out applications. You can apply online or in person on Tuesdays only between 9:00am and 2:45pm to be placed on the waiting list.

Q. Can I apply online?
A. Yes, you may apply online at any time. If you have ever previously applied for any of our programs, you will not be able to re-apply/reactivate your application online. Please print the Reactivate Application form or call our office for further instructions, 301-662-8173.

Q. Am I on the waiting list? / Where am I on the waiting list?
A. We now offer an online waiting list check option. Please note: any position numbers displayed are subject to change due to your application preferences and those of other applicants on our list. These positions can change on a daily basis.

If you applied for the Public Housing Waiting list and the system currently shows “Withdrawn,” you can reactivate your application by completing the Reactivate Application form and return it to our main office.

If you are “Withdrawn” or “Expired” from the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list you cannot reactivate at this time.

Our friendly and dedicated maintenance staff take pride in providing our residents with a safe well-maintained housing in Frederick City area. Our staff is available 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies. The maintenance staff is professionally trained in all aspects of building and grounds maintenance. We take pride in giving our residents the best available housing in the city.  We care about you and your needs.
